Why Some Seatbelts Have Two Buttons
Many vehicles actually have two stop buttons on the seatbelt:

One near the latch plate to stop it from sliding downward.

One higher up on the strap to stop it from sliding too far upward.
Together they keep the buckle in the perfect position for easy use.
What Happens If the Button Falls Off?
If the button breaks or disappears, your seatbelt will still work normally, but the buckle may slide all the way down the strap and become annoying to reach. Replacement buttons are cheap and easy to install if needed.
